Clutches, shoes and belts!

That’s what dominated the first accessories show on Day 3 of the Lakme Fashion Week.
Clutches, shoes and belts!
The Accessories Show on Day 3 of the Gitanjali-sponsored Lakme Fashion Week was an inspiring session.
Starting with Little Shilpa, audiences were in for a cute surprise as she played up the nostalgia of her childhood in Mumbai. Using plastic dolls, pompom balls and wire mesh, her creativity on the headgear was in full bloom.
Since this accessories designer does do a lot of accessories for most designers, many including Aki Narula and Narendra Kumar Ahmed were present, and there was much cheer for her stuff on the ramp.
1x1 polls
There was a model who dragged a chandelier with pearls as its strings and Little Shilpa received a standing ovation for this.
Abdul Tawwab came to the rescue of the metrosexual man. Inspired by the era of the 1960s, Abdul flaunted suede shoes, ankle length boots using white patent leather with beige strips, pixie-like shoes with thin soles and some with gold laces too. I feel some of the shoes were really very slick, some of course looked over-the-top.
Then came Malaga by Malini Agarwala. Snakeskin embossed belts and bags came under the spotlight. Malini is basically a bags lady but her shoes and belts too were winning in their appeal. Heeled chappals with real stones were very decorative. A mustard coloured bag with a blue turquoise stone stood out. Inspired by the Mughal dynasty, Malinis designs was inspiring and eclectic. The show was concluded with Stoffa by Priyanka, Malini and Hersh. Playing up four looks of western, psychedelic, metallic and diamante, the accessories reminded us of the gladiators and Roman warriors.
Big oversized bags, low belts with dangling chains, sling bags with diamond-studded straps, clutches which looked as flat as a file and evening bags looked that like antique treasure chest bags. The best part, however, was that Indian shoemakers are now perfecting the art of the heel and arches. We are progressing towards that direction and thats indeed a trend we can watch out for.
